Citroen has updated its e-Berlingo electric people carrier with a new battery for extended range and a host of interior and exterior upgrades.
Set to go on sale in spring 2024, the updated van-based MPV gets the same 54kWh battery found across other Stellantis models. The new battery replaces the previous 50kWh unit and brings a 20% jump in range - to 198 miles on a charge - aided by a new three-stage regenerative braking system.
As before, the e-Berlingo has a 136bhp motor and can be charged at up to 100kW using public DC chargers, taking it from 0-80% in 30 minutes. AC charging remains at 7.4kW, although an optional 11kW three-phase on-board charger is available, as well as an optional heat pump.
Visually, the e-Berlingo’s front end has been redesigned to follow Citroen’s new family style, first demonstrated on the e-C3. A squarer, stepped appearance incorporates a single-piece grille and bumper, and features three-piece LED with vertical running lights. At the centre sits the new retro-look Citroen chevron badge, which is flanked by a thin band that echoes the chevron shape. Elsewhere, the design is largely unchanged, although the signature airbumps have been given a smoother look and ‘Max’ trim level gets a red pinstripe on the airbumps and front skid plate.
Citroen says it has worked to improve the fit and finish of the Berlingo's interior.
