The UK electric van is set to get more competitive in 2025 with the arrival of a new model from Geely. The Chinese brand’s subsidiary, Farizon, is set to introduce the Farizon SV, a large all-electric van in the first half of the year. Designed with European fleets in mind, the SV features modular customisation to meet the needs of commercial operators. It also, as you may have noticed, bears more than a passing resemblance to the Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo.
The Farizon SV is underpinned by a bespoke modular platform that features cell-to-pack battery technology, which Farizon claims increases battery capacity by 10 per cent. The technology also reduces overall weight by four per cent and improves body rigidity by 20 per cent compared to other BEV vans.
The SV also introduces a drive-by-wire system with dual redundancy in case of a system failure. Farizon says this innovation cuts braking distances by 10 per cent, boosts range by five per cent, and enhances steering response by up to 300 per cent. The system also enables a lower loading height and increased payload capacity – key advantages for operators.
To ensure it meets European standards, Geely claims that the Farizon SV has been subjected to over one million miles of testing. The brand describes the van as a product designed “for the fleets of today and tomorrow,” with a clear focus on zero-emissions operation and convenience.
The SV will be available in three lengths and three heights from launch, although precise measurements have not been disclosed. Initially, buyers will have a choice of two battery sizes: 67kWh and 83kWh. A larger 106kWh version is set to follow, further enhancing range options for operators. The 83kWh model is expected to deliver a range of 225 miles and offer a payload of around 1.3 tonnes.
Although Farizon is a newcomer to Europe, it has already secured its first major order. German logistics firm Duvenbeck placed an order for 50 units of Farizon’s Homtruck at the IAA Transportation event in Hanover earlier this year.
In the UK, Farizon will be introduced by Jameel Motors, following the signing of a distribution deal earlier this month. While Jameel is new to the UK market, it has enjoyed considerable success as an importer in other parts of the world. It is understood that the SV will be the first of a new range of Farizon vans and commercial vehicles. Final pricing and details relating to the distribution network are expected within the coming weeks.
