The OMODA 4 has been revealed at this year's Chery User Summit, at the manufacturer's headquarters in Wuhu, China. I know that we've all had the Chery User Summit in our diaries for a long time - it's a highlight of the autumn season - but, in case you missed it, the OMODA 4 is a compact SUV that will go on sale in the UK in 2026.

OMODA hasn't confirmed exactly which powertrains will be available in its new SUV, but it has said that it will be offered with both petrol and electric variants. This could refer to a plug-in hybrid, like the bigger OMODA 9, which gets one of the longest electric ranges of any plug-in hybrid on sale in Europe, and it could also mean a pure electric car - like the bigger OMODA 5.
Richard Koo, OMODA's design director, describes the OMODA 4 as having the "Cyber Mecha design philosophy... presenting a futuristic mecha-inspired exterior." We're not sure about that, but the very angular, blocky styling does have a bit of a robotic look to it, and the slim headlights continue the futuristic look. It actually reminds us of a Lotus, which is no bad thing!

The final details of the OMODA 4 are yet to be confirmed, but it's due to arrive here in 2026 and we'd say that it's likely to get the same 61kWh battery that's used in the 5. That should be good enough for a range of around 280 miles. Pricing isn't confirmed yet, but we'd expect it to cost less than the Jaecoo E5 that we drove recently, so starting prices may be as low as £25,000. We'll just have to wait and see, but certainly if you want a good value mid-sized family SUV with a decent range, the new OMODA 4 could be worth the wait.
