The VW ID.4 and ID.5 electric SUVs have had their prices cut to below £37,000, making certain models eligible for the level-two £1,500 Government Electric Car Grant (ECG).
Most ID.3 models are already eligible, with eight versions qualifying.
With the discounts applied, the ID.4 and ID.5 models start from £35,495. The full list of the VW ID.4 and ID.5 models eligible for the grant is:
ID.4 Pure Essential 52 kWh
ID.4 Pure Match 52 kWh
ID.4 Pro Essential 77 kWh
ID.5 Pure Match 52 kWh
ID.5 Pro Essential 77 kWh
To qualify for the Government’s ECG, companies are required to meet strict technical and sustainability standards. The new VW inclusions mean there are now 38 cars on the eligible list, although only the Ford Puma and E-Tourneo Courier qualify for the full £3,750 Level 1 grant (the new Nissan Leaf looks likely to join them when it goes on sale at the beginning of 2026).
