Is there a Jeep Renegade hybrid?
Yes, and more specifically it’s a plug-in hybrid. It’s Jeep’s first hybrid model and the company claims it's better off-road than petrol and diesel models.
How does the Jeep Renegade hybrid work?
The Renegade 4xe (pronounced ‘four by e’) has a petrol engine at the front, an 11.4kWh battery in the middle and an electric motor at the back making it four-wheel drive. The battery is charged by plugging it into a wallbox or a domestic socket or by using the petrol engine.
What is the range of the Jeep Renegade plug-in hybrid?
Jeep claims the Renegade 4xe can travel 26 miles in pure electric mode. We found this to be pretty accurate on a summer’s day but around 20 miles is a realistic average figure.
Is the Renegade PHEV a good company car?
If you’re a company car driver then the 4xe PHEV is the best option in the Renegade range because it falls into the 12% benefit-in-kind bracket. Some rivals like the Renault Captur E-TECH are in the 10% category so are even cheaper.
Does Jeep make hybrids?
Yes, and the Renegade is the first. Jeep calls its plug-in hybrid models ‘4xe’ and it has already revealed two other models – the Compass and the Wrangler 4xe. The compass will arrive in the UK in late 2021 but Jeep hasn’t decided whether it’ll offer the Wrangler 4xe in the UK, though.
